OBjectives

  • To promote the love of reading
  • To promote the use of public libraries as neighbourhoods and community resource centres
  • To introduce children to a wide variety of literature and multicultural reading materials
  • To encourage children to participate in a group activity
  • To encourage children to read for retention
  • To form partnerships with local schools and businesses and strengthen community ties
  • To build confidence and integrity in young readers

How it works


Librarians from Fraser Valley Regional Library and elementary schools work together to help students participate in the Reading Link Challenge. 
  • Interested students form teams of six players.
  • Each team is responsible for knowing the contents of six books.
  • Every player is responsible for reading all six books.  
  • Kids get the books in December and read until March. All teams within each school challenge each other to get a winning team.
In April, winning teams from schools come to the branch library to determine an inter school winner. The winning team goes to the grand District Final. At this event, parents will be invited, refreshments will be served. and prices will be rewarded.
